Small group coaching for men · Next group: Thursdays, Nov 5 – Dec 17

The Forge Circle.

Six weeks. A handful of men. No man is alone.

The house is too quiet. You're awake at 3 AM running the same conversation. Sunday night comes and the kids are at the other house. If you're going through a divorce, rebuilding after one, or fighting to save a marriage in trouble, spend six Thursday evenings with a few men who get it, led by me, Jay Garrett. You'll leave each call with something practical to use that week.

Thursdays, 6:00 to 7:30 PM CT · Nov 5 to Dec 17 · Google Meet · Camera on or off, your call

Why a circle

Most men try to handle divorce the way I did in 2004: stay busy, keep working, and tell everyone they're fine. Then the work day ends, and it's you, an empty house, and your own head. Men don't fall apart because they're weak. They fall apart because they're isolated.

In the circle, you sit with a few men who have been in that same quiet house. You say the real thing out loud, you hear that you're not the only one, and you walk away with a plan for the hours that hit hardest.

You don't heal in hiding.

Who it's for

For you if

  • You're going through a divorce, rebuilding after one, or trying to save a marriage that's in trouble.
  • You're tired of telling everyone you're "fine" when you're not sleeping, not eating right, and not sure who to call.
  • The nights, the 3 AM spiral, and the Sunday evenings without your kids are the hardest part.
  • The anger or resentment comes out sideways, and you don't like who it's making you.
  • You're not sure who you are anymore outside the marriage.
  • You'd rather sit with a few men who get it than figure this out alone.
  • You'll show up for six Thursdays and do one small thing between calls.

Not the right fit if

  • You're in crisis right now. Call or text 988 (or 911 if you're in danger). A counselor or therapist is the right first step.
  • You need legal strategy. That's your attorney's job.
  • You want six weeks of venting about your ex. We're honest about the hurt, but the circle looks forward.
  • You want a program built mainly on faith. Faith is welcome here and never required.

The six weeks

ThursdayThemeWhat you take home
Nov 5Out of hiding. Isolation is where the worst thinking grows. We set our agreements, and each man says what's really going on.A breathing technique Navy SEALs and first responders use to calm the body under pressure, plus one man you'll reach out to this week, so you're not carrying this alone
Nov 12The lonely hours. Sunday nights, 3 AM, the weekends the kids are gone. You make the plan at noon, so you're not making it up at midnight.A personal game plan for your hardest hours (Sunday nights, 3 AM, empty weekends): get moving, reach out, and hold off on the big decisions until daylight
Nov 19Who am I now? The man in the mirror. Who you are when you're not somebody's husband, and who you want to be.Insight from the Enneagram, a personality framework that shows how you react under stress and what you look like at your best, so you can start rebuilding on purpose
Nov 26Thanksgiving: no callA survival plan for the holidays, sent by email, for the days that hit hardest
Dec 3Resentment. Keeping score, keeping quiet, going cold, or blowing up. Cooling the forge before it burns what you're trying to keep.A practical exercise to loosen resentment's grip, plus guided breathing to cool the anger in the moment. (My book on resentment in marriage and family is coming soon.)
Dec 10Fatherhood and the people still in your life. Missing your kids, co-parenting without the war, and the friends and family you've pulled away from. One concrete step to repair or reconnect with someone who matters, whether that's your kids, family, or an old friend
Dec 17Reforged on purpose. Work, health, purpose, and the holidays ahead. You leave with a direction, not just a hard season behind you.A one-page 90-day plan for the road ahead, and a brother in your corner to keep you on it

How each call works

  1. Check-in round
  2. A short teaching
  3. One practical tool
  4. Time for men to share
  5. One commitment for the week

Ninety minutes, the same shape every week, so you know what you're walking into. You talk when you're ready, you listen when you're not, and you leave with one thing to do before next Thursday.

Between calls you get a short email from me with that week's commitment and tool, so the work doesn't stop when the call ends. There's also an optional weekly group text for men who opt in, for the nights you need a man to hear from. Nobody's number is shared without his yes.

Who leads it

I'm Jay Garrett. I know the empty house and the 3 AM ceiling because I lived them in 2004. I've walked alongside men ever since my divorce, taught a divorce recovery course for nine semesters, and co-founded Lifeboat Austin. The circle is separate from Lifeboat: it's paid coaching that I lead.

I'm Jay Garrett, J.D., a lawyer by training, but I'm not your lawyer, and this isn't legal advice.

Questions

Is there an online divorce support group for men?

Yes. The Forge Circle is a small coaching group for men going through a divorce, rebuilding after one, or trying to save a marriage in trouble. We meet by video on Google Meet, so you can join from anywhere in the US. It's led by me, Jay Garrett. I've walked alongside men ever since my 2004 divorce.

What happens in the group?

Each call has the same shape: a check-in round, a short teaching, one practical tool, time for men to share, and one commitment for the week. You talk when you're ready and listen when you're not. Between calls you get a short email with that week's tool and commitment.

Is it therapy?

No. It's coaching, not therapy, counseling, or legal advice. Plenty of men do both. If you're in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911 if you're in danger.

Do I have to be in Austin?

No. I'm based in Austin, but the circle meets on Google Meet, so any man in the US can join.

When does the next group meet, and what does it cost?

Thursdays, 6:00 to 7:30 PM CT, on Google Meet: six calls on Nov 5, 12, 19, Dec 3, 10, and 17, 2026, with no call on Thanksgiving (Nov 26). The early enrollment rate is $197 (or 2 payments of $99) through Oct 30. After that, the regular price is $297.

How do I join?

Reserve your seat on this page, or book a free 30-minute intro call first if you'd like to talk it through.

What if only a couple of men sign up?

The circle runs with 3. With fewer, the date moves and you choose: wait for the later date or take a full refund.

Do I have to be religious?

No. Faith is welcome here and never required.

Do I have to be on camera?

Camera on or off, your call. Come as you are.

I'm trying to save my marriage. Is this for me?

Yes. The weeks on resentment and on the people still in your life fit especially well. A lot of what pushes a marriage apart is anger nobody says out loud and distance that grows quietly.

You don't have to swing the hammer alone.

A 30-minute conversation with a man who's been there. You'll leave with a next step, even if it isn't me.

"I'm a lawyer, and I still got blindsided. She moved out on a rare snowy day in Austin. When I came back, the house was cold, quiet, and empty. I know what comes after. No man is alone, and neither are you."
